| The mission of Make-A-Wish Foundation International is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illness around the world.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation began in the USA in 1980 with the fulfillment of the first wish.
A 7-year-old boy with leukemia named Chris Greicius wished to be a policeman. His mother, several friends and a group of police officers, with the cooperation of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, granted his wish with a custom-made uniform, helmet, badge, and helicopter ride!
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has become the largest wish-granting organization in the world and can be found in more than 30 countries on five continents. Since its inception in 1980 the Foundation has granted more than 144,000 wishes around the world. |
